Seafood Starters and Appetizers

Seared Ahi

Ahi tuna is a seafood commodity praised for its steak-like consistency and beloved by those who do and don’t enjoy seafood. A popular Reno seafood appetizer here at The Grill is our Seared Ahi which is encrusted in an organic spice mix and paired with our citrus slaw. On the side is a Serrano Soy dipping sauce that accentuates the flavor of the ahi excellently.

Shellfish Cocktail

What better way to start off your lunch or dinner than with a seafood cocktail? This alcohol-free cocktail contains nothing but delicious shellfish including shrimp, prawns, and crab paired with our homemade cocktail sauce, slices of celery, and a lemon wedge for a refreshing palette cleanser to begin your meal.

Seafood Salads

Szechuan Prawns Salad

The Szechuan Prawns salad is a lunch special consisting of colorful cabbage slaw, perfectly toasted mixed nuts, blue cheese crumbles, and a spicy vinaigrette dressing. Our Szechuan sauce is made from traditional Chinese ingredients such as fresh ginger, brown sugar, soy sauce, and refined spices like cayenne pepper and red chiles. Our delicious prawns are tossed in the Szechuan mixture, pan-seared to perfection, and placed atop some greens.

Louie-Louie Salad

We’ve talked about the popular Louie-Louie salad in previous blogs as it’s a local favorite. This salad is made with only top-quality seafood and veggies. If you’re looking for the ultimate seafood salad, this should be your top choice. In the Louie-Louie, you’ll find delicious Dungeness crab, king crab, snow crab, prawns, and bay shrimp. The salad also consists of tomato, asparagus, hard-boiled egg, crisp Romaine lettuce, and avocado.

Seafood Entrees

Petrale Sole Picatta

Our Sole Picatta is a fan favorite among locals. Made with fresh Petrale Sole, this dish combines delicious seafood with refreshing lemon and herb flavors for a simple yet elegant mid-day or evening meal. The dish also includes rice, sauteed spinach, and a tangy lemon caper Beurre Blanc sauce.

Grilled Salmon

A tasteful salmon dish requires the finest fresh-caught salmon. Our Grilled Salmon begins with thick, fresh salmon fillets covered in a tart yet savory maple ponzu glaze. And the perfect salmon dish must be paired with an equally amazing side. To accompany the salmon is a delicious mushroom risotto and vegetable Du Jour.

Mussels

If you’re a big seafood lover, then you’ll appreciate the love and care that goes into making mussels at The Grill. Made with ripe tomatoes, shallots, fresh basil, Dijon, and a sweet vermouth sauce. This meal is only available on our dinner menu, so if you’re looking to try this, be sure to set up an evening reservation with us!

Scallops

When it comes to seafood, scallops are considered the cream of the crop. This light, yet rich dish, is not only sweet and buttery, but our scallops are also tender and succulent. The Grill Scallops are bacon-wrapped and served with our Chef's risotto, seasonal vegetable, and Chardonnay Shallot sauce.

Crab Mac ‘N Cheese

Mac ‘N Cheese is a traditional, hearty American dish, but there’s nothing average about our seafood Mac ‘N Cheese. Made with Dungeness Crab, bacon, smoked gouda, herbed Panko, cavatappi pasta, and roasted crimini, this is a unique and remarkable take on an American classic. And to top off the dish, we’ve added decadent black truffles for a truly elegant meal.

Grilled Colossal Prawns

If you enjoy a nice shrimp dish, then you’ll love our Colossal Prawns. While our prawns are anything but small, they sure know how to pack a flavorful punch. Our Grilled Prawns are made with white wine, butter, and garlic, tossed in fresh oregano, and paired with our vegetable Du Jour, delicious crostini, and sun-dried tomato risotto.

Daily Fish Specials

If fresh fish is is a must-have on your lunch or dinner menu, then need not worry. We offer an amazing cioppino, a classic fish stew created by our west coast neighbors in San Francisco as well as fresh halibut specials daily. Our halibut specials change every day and are available for lunch and dinner.

Although The Grill at Quail Corners opened in 1999, the family’s love for restaurants and Nevada goes way back to the 19th century. The modern American and international fine dining grill in Reno that many have come to know and love took inspiration from the owner’s ancestors, who have extensive experience in the bar and restaurant scene. The locally-owned and family-operated business was created by 5th generation Nevadans who strive to keep their family traditions alive. Reno Grill Filet

How It Began

The Francovich family’s restaurant and bar roots started with Eli Francovich who migrated to the U.S. from Petrovac, Yugoslavia in 1850. Nine years later in 1859, Eli moved to Reno, Nevada, and opened The Wine House, one of Reno’s very first restaurants and bars. Located in the heart of downtown Reno, The Wine House rose to success in bringing family and friends together to bond over delicious food and spirits.

After operating continuously for 87 years, the fourth generation American Francovich’s decided to close the doors of the Wine House to pursue other life goals. Eli, his son Spiro, and Spiro’s children kept the family’s traditions and the Wine House alive until 1957. And 42 years later in 1999, Sam Francovich, 5th generation Nevadan, decided to return his family back to its restaurant and bar roots by opening The Grill.

Continuing the Francovich Family Traditions

Sam Francovich opened The Grill at Quail Corners in 1999 as a way to bring back family tradition and follow his own passions of running a local restaurant and bar. Though this job isn’t easy, nothing brings joy to the Francovich family like seeing happy customers enjoying the food and drinks specially prepared by their team.

The Grill has brought the family back to its roots and prides itself on serving wonderful food by people who care. We provide you with a fine dining experience along with the best lunch and dinner options in Reno that will make you want to come back!

Support local business

The Grill, Reno

While this current pandemic has left everyone in the unknown there’s plenty you can do to help our community. One of the easiest ways is to come grab some curbside pickup from one of the best Reno restaurants, The Grill!

After a long day at work you deserve to treat yourself to something special - like a specialty cocktail from one of Reno’s best happy hour spots. The Grill at Quail Corners has created a list of signature cocktails and specialty drinks that are both tasty and unique. And as a locally-owned and family-operated business, The Grill supports other locally-owned businesses by using some of the finest native-made spirits in their drinks. We also offer a wide variety of specialty wines and other delicious cocktails. Take a look below to learn more about Reno happy hour at The Grill.

Francovich Manhattan

The Francovich Manhattan is made exclusively by the Francovich family - owners of The Grill. The Francovich family started their legacy as being one of the first restaurants and bars in Reno, Nevada. The original restaurant, called The Wine House, easily became one of Reno’s best places to eat and grab a drink. Years later, the family’s 5th generation decided to open The Grill and use some of their families widely successful beverages and food items in their own menu. Thus, the Francovich Manhattan was later created.

This specialty cocktail is made in stainless steel micro batches right here in Reno, Nevada. It’s similar to a typical Manhattan that’s made with whiskey and can be served straight up or on the rocks.

Pineapple Express

This specialty cocktail is made with Nevada’s very own Seven Troughs Moonshine made locally   in the city of Sparks. Their moonshine adds a smooth and malty finish to the cocktail that elevates the other flavors that make up this drink. The Pineapple Express from The Grill is a  uniquely mixed drink containing delicious flavors of pineapple combined with a robust ginger beer and some aromatic bitters. So, if you’re looking for a refreshing and tropical drink to enjoy during your Reno happy hour, then this may be just what you need!

Tahoe Mule

The Tahoe Mule is another specialty cocktail The Grill created that uses a locally made spirit. This drink contains Tahoe Blue Vodka which was inspired by the beautiful Lake Tahoe and is locally made in Lake Tahoe, California. The Tahoe Mule is made with delicious Tahoe Blue Vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. The Grill’s take on the classic mule has elevated the traditional flavors of the drink to give you a truly specialized beverage.

Specialty Martinis

The Grill also makes specialty martinis with some unique and original flavors. Take for instance their White Chocolate Espresso Martini which is made with Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur and freshly made espresso. Then, it’s served in a martini glass decorated with delicious chocolate which might make you wonder whether you’re drinking a cocktail or eating dessert!

Another unique martini that The Grill has created is the Margatini. If you enjoy margaritas just as much as you love martinis, then this one’s for you. This Reno happy hour drink is made with Patron Silver tequila, Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Lefty O’Doul’s Sweet And Sour, and fresh squeezed lime juice. It’s then served straight up with a half salted rim.

In preparation for our 20th Anniversary, we spoke to one of our loyal customers, Sean Gamble, and she was kind enough to tell us 20 reasons why she loves The Grill! Sean's been dining at the best restaurant in Reno for years and knows Sam and Diane very well. Check out why Sean loves the Grill!

  1. Watching people attempt to open the front door on the right to exit the restaurant. In 20 years, that door has never been unlocked, yet 80 percent of the patrons will try.
  2. The various attempts Sam and Diane have made to direct people on the right path to the restrooms.
  3. Knowing you’ll see at least four people you know.
  4. Knowing you’ll see at least four people you want to avoid, but you go anyway.
  5. Being greeted with a big beautiful smile, unless Sam is the hostess.
  6. Watching to see who snags the biggest cookie when the plate is delivered with the check. Also, waiting to see who devours the last remaining cookie on the plate.
  7. Being greeted with big grins from everyone in the open kitchen upon arrival.
  8. Francovich Egg Nog season. The season hasn’t arrived without it.
  9. Shelly. Simply Shelly. We think she started there before they opened.
  10. The high top, center court, “see and be seen” tables, when you don’t want to hide your crazy.
  11. The Patio for the Spring, Summer and unseasonably warm fall and winter days. The sunshine adds vitamin D to go with your meal/wine, whichever comes first.
  12. Private parties in Vino Reno. Sometimes you want to hide your crazy.
  13. The visits from the sparkly red-nosed Santa with his candy canes in December. We think he spends a little time in Vino Reno prepping for the Grill visits.
  14. Sitting a table away from any one of our elected officials, including the Governor, Mayor, council, commission, Congress and legislature. They have to eat too.
  15. The wine menu, everything on the wine menu.
  16. Guessing how many pounds of candy is in the 5-foot tall candy dish, and wondering what year the pieces at the bottom went in.
  17. The Chef’s ability to modify dishes for the hard to please kids, and some of those other people. You know who you are.
  18. The Francovich Manhattan on the daily special menu. Every day. Day after day, after day, except on Sundays. Yeah, the Grill is closed on Sundays, but you can take a bottle to go on Saturday to complete your week.
  19. The absolute willpower it takes to pass the fresh bread baker’s table without grabbing your own piping hot baguette and sinking your teeth into the still steaming dough.
  20. The love and hugs from Sam and Diane.

Swing by the Grill at Quail Corners on Saturday, November 16th between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to celebrate 20 years of culinary bliss with Sam and Diane.

After a long and stressful day of working hard, “happy hour” is probably the best thing you’ll hear all day. Affordable drinks and (hopefully) reasonable food - what could be better? And the deals aren’t the only things to look forward to. Heading to a Reno happy hour after work with some friends, family, or your significant other can help make memories that’ll last a lifetime, and the affordable drinks are just a bonus.

So, how do you find the best Reno happy hour? Use these guidelines for finding the perfect happy hour spot and a place to unwind after a long day.

reno happy hour

Food

When you’re leaving work and are headed to grab some drinks with your co-workers or friends, you’re probably also pretty hungry. Finding a happy hour spot that extends their drink specials to the fine dining food menu is a spot you want to be in in Reno. Most of these places will offer small snacks at a discount, and some even offer full meals at lower prices. Even if you aren’t hungry right when you get there, you could always order something before happy hour ends and save your food for later.

Drinks

If you’re not a fan of drinking beer and that’s all they have on their happy hour menu, then you’re in the wrong place. A great happy hour bar or restaurant will have a few beer, wine, and cocktail options on their menu. This way everyone in your dining party is able to find something they’ll like. And make sure that the drinks on the happy hour menu are actually a good deal. A bar that promotes an $8 beer as a happy hour special, is not really a deal.

Ambience

Finding the best happy hour starts with finding the best location. Some of us want a place that’s quiet and relaxing, while others want to find a happy hour spot that’s fun and lively. And when the weather is warm and sunny, sitting outside might be exactly what you need after a tough day. Even the lighting and decor of a restaurant can influence your decision when it comes to picking the perfect happy hour location. Dim lighting may not put you in the best mood and sometimes harsh bright lights can be uncomfortable after some time.

Whatever your preferences may be, make sure you find the right place for you to unwind, and have a good time.

Happy Hour Saturdays

Who said that happy hour wasn’t meant for the weekends? While most happy hours only promote their specials Monday through Friday, a great happy hour spot will also have this available on Saturdays as well. Being able to relax on a Saturday with some friends or family while enjoying some drinks is very common. And it’d be even better if there was a happy hour available. So, look for a happy hour that extends through the work week and into Saturday.

Happy Hour Rewards

Loyalty rewards have become increasingly popular recently. Who doesn’t love getting rewarded for visiting their favorite restaurant or bar? If you’ve found a happy hour spot that you love, see if they offer a reward system. If you’re visiting them often, then the rewards card will really benefit you by giving you an even bigger savings.

Happy Hour in Reno at The Grill

At The Grill, happy hour isn't just about the drinks. It's about the food, the atmosphere, and the overall Reno fine dining experience you get. Our happy hours are from 4 - 6 PM Monday through Saturday. We have beer, wine, and cocktails on the menu for $3-$5, and food options ranging from $4-$8. Our outdoor patio is perfect for summer fine dining in Reno, and our indoor seating is nice and relaxing. And of course, don't forget about the rewards! We offer a Loyalty Rewards system that gives you more bang for your buck. Connect with us today and see how our rewards system works, or reserve a table and check out our Happy Hour Menu!
