During Nevada’s Stay at Home order, you may find it difficult to support your favorite local businesses. However, a great way to show your support is through ordering takeout and curbside. The Grill Reno is open and available for curbside pickup! While we employ the safe practice of social distancing, we want to make sure our delicious food is still available to our loyal local customers.

Now is a more important time than ever to support local businesses. If you haven’t in the past, this is the perfect time to start! The Grill is locally owned by 5th generation Nevadans and has been serving the Reno community for 20 years. By supporting local businesses like us, you’re also supporting local families!

Check out our lunch curbside offers here and our dinner selection here. While the menu is reduced we’re still offering starters, entrees, and pizzas for dinner, with the addition of sandwiches for lunch.

Starters

The selection of starters is the same for both lunch and dinner. While we did cut down on a few we still have our legendary antipasto. It includes our chef’s choice of cured meats and cheeses marinated in olive oil blend with pepperoncinis, crackers, honey, and mustard on the side.

Salads

We’re still offering a plethora of our salads including the Louie-Louie. It’s loaded with prawns, shrimp, crab, tomato, asparagus, a hard-boiled egg, crisp romaine, and avocado. Available for lunch and dinner!

Lunch Sandwiches

As of now, we’re only offering sandwiches during lunchtime, but we included some of our favorites. No need to fear we’re still making both our Angus and beyond meat ½ pound burgers served with fries, salad, or a cup of fruit or soup.

Dinner Entrees

Our dinner entree menu is still chalked full of delicious dishes including our fall off the bone short ribs with mashed potatoes and braised spinach. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous try out our panko-crusted calamari steak spiced with brown butter and lemon, served with rice and our seasonal vegetables.

Support local business

The Grill, Reno

While this current pandemic has left everyone in the unknown there’s plenty you can do to help our community. One of the easiest ways is to come grab some curbside pickup from one of the best Reno restaurants, The Grill!

After a long day at work you deserve to treat yourself to something special - like a specialty cocktail from one of Reno’s best happy hour spots. The Grill at Quail Corners has created a list of signature cocktails and specialty drinks that are both tasty and unique. And as a locally-owned and family-operated business, The Grill supports other locally-owned businesses by using some of the finest native-made spirits in their drinks. We also offer a wide variety of specialty wines and other delicious cocktails. Take a look below to learn more about Reno happy hour at The Grill.

Francovich Manhattan

The Francovich Manhattan is made exclusively by the Francovich family - owners of The Grill. The Francovich family started their legacy as being one of the first restaurants and bars in Reno, Nevada. The original restaurant, called The Wine House, easily became one of Reno’s best places to eat and grab a drink. Years later, the family’s 5th generation decided to open The Grill and use some of their families widely successful beverages and food items in their own menu. Thus, the Francovich Manhattan was later created.

This specialty cocktail is made in stainless steel micro batches right here in Reno, Nevada. It’s similar to a typical Manhattan that’s made with whiskey and can be served straight up or on the rocks.

Pineapple Express

This specialty cocktail is made with Nevada’s very own Seven Troughs Moonshine made locally   in the city of Sparks. Their moonshine adds a smooth and malty finish to the cocktail that elevates the other flavors that make up this drink. The Pineapple Express from The Grill is a  uniquely mixed drink containing delicious flavors of pineapple combined with a robust ginger beer and some aromatic bitters. So, if you’re looking for a refreshing and tropical drink to enjoy during your Reno happy hour, then this may be just what you need!

Tahoe Mule

The Tahoe Mule is another specialty cocktail The Grill created that uses a locally made spirit. This drink contains Tahoe Blue Vodka which was inspired by the beautiful Lake Tahoe and is locally made in Lake Tahoe, California. The Tahoe Mule is made with delicious Tahoe Blue Vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. The Grill’s take on the classic mule has elevated the traditional flavors of the drink to give you a truly specialized beverage.

Specialty Martinis

The Grill also makes specialty martinis with some unique and original flavors. Take for instance their White Chocolate Espresso Martini which is made with Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur and freshly made espresso. Then, it’s served in a martini glass decorated with delicious chocolate which might make you wonder whether you’re drinking a cocktail or eating dessert!

Another unique martini that The Grill has created is the Margatini. If you enjoy margaritas just as much as you love martinis, then this one’s for you. This Reno happy hour drink is made with Patron Silver tequila, Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Lefty O’Doul’s Sweet And Sour, and fresh squeezed lime juice. It’s then served straight up with a half salted rim.

In preparation for our 20th Anniversary, we spoke to one of our loyal customers, Sean Gamble, and she was kind enough to tell us 20 reasons why she loves The Grill! Sean's been dining at the best restaurant in Reno for years and knows Sam and Diane very well. Check out why Sean loves the Grill!

  1. Watching people attempt to open the front door on the right to exit the restaurant. In 20 years, that door has never been unlocked, yet 80 percent of the patrons will try.
  2. The various attempts Sam and Diane have made to direct people on the right path to the restrooms.
  3. Knowing you’ll see at least four people you know.
  4. Knowing you’ll see at least four people you want to avoid, but you go anyway.
  5. Being greeted with a big beautiful smile, unless Sam is the hostess.
  6. Watching to see who snags the biggest cookie when the plate is delivered with the check. Also, waiting to see who devours the last remaining cookie on the plate.
  7. Being greeted with big grins from everyone in the open kitchen upon arrival.
  8. Francovich Egg Nog season. The season hasn’t arrived without it.
  9. Shelly. Simply Shelly. We think she started there before they opened.
  10. The high top, center court, “see and be seen” tables, when you don’t want to hide your crazy.
  11. The Patio for the Spring, Summer and unseasonably warm fall and winter days. The sunshine adds vitamin D to go with your meal/wine, whichever comes first.
  12. Private parties in Vino Reno. Sometimes you want to hide your crazy.
  13. The visits from the sparkly red-nosed Santa with his candy canes in December. We think he spends a little time in Vino Reno prepping for the Grill visits.
  14. Sitting a table away from any one of our elected officials, including the Governor, Mayor, council, commission, Congress and legislature. They have to eat too.
  15. The wine menu, everything on the wine menu.
  16. Guessing how many pounds of candy is in the 5-foot tall candy dish, and wondering what year the pieces at the bottom went in.
  17. The Chef’s ability to modify dishes for the hard to please kids, and some of those other people. You know who you are.
  18. The Francovich Manhattan on the daily special menu. Every day. Day after day, after day, except on Sundays. Yeah, the Grill is closed on Sundays, but you can take a bottle to go on Saturday to complete your week.
  19. The absolute willpower it takes to pass the fresh bread baker’s table without grabbing your own piping hot baguette and sinking your teeth into the still steaming dough.
  20. The love and hugs from Sam and Diane.

Swing by the Grill at Quail Corners on Saturday, November 16th between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to celebrate 20 years of culinary bliss with Sam and Diane.

You don’t have to be a connoisseur of red wine to enjoy a glass of it every now and again. It can be difficult to differentiate between the varying types of red wines, however. Which red wine is the darkest? Which one is the driest? Which red wine should I enjoy with a steak dinner? Finding the best red wine food pairings can be hard. Here we list 6 different types of red wines and the foods they pair the best with, so that the next time you’re out with friends or on a date, you can show off your red wine knowledge.

Merlot

If you’re new to the world of red wine, it’s highly suggested that you start with a nice Merlot. Merlot is positioned in the middle of the red wine spectrum and has a medium body and color. This red wine has notes of red fruits such as cherries and finishes off very smoothly. The great thing about this wine is that it pairs with just about any food you can think of. Being a medium-bodied wine in the middle of the red wine spectrum gives Merlot its versatility. You can pair Merlot with roasted veggies, including tomatoes, poultry such as turkey or duck, lightly-spiced dark meats, and pasta sauces.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is the most popular light-bodied red wine there is. This red wine pairs well with most dishes because of its rich fruit profile and complexity. You can taste hints of red fruits like strawberries and raspberries, as well as earthy flavors and spices in this wine. It’s high acidity also makes it perfect for pairing with highly acidic foods and sauces. We suggest you try a Pinot Noir with an earthy dish that may include mushrooms or truffles, and meat ranging from duck and chicken to pork and veal, and even salmon.

Zinfandel

Zinfandels are very versatile. You can find this type of wine as a red, pink, or white. Red Zinfandels are light-bodied but have a bold taste thanks to their moderate tannins and high acidic levels. While their color is lighter than that of a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, a red Zinfandel will have a rather high alcohol content level. This dry wine has flavors of berries and jam as well as hot pepper, usually starting out sweet and followed by a tobacco-like smoky finish. We suggest pairing this wine with a barbecue or curry dish. You can pair this wine with most meats and bold flavors.

Malbec

This medium to full-bodied wine is dry, with a dark, almost inky, purple color. Malbec is popularly grown in Argentina and has flavors of plum and blackberries. The rich and elegant textures in this wine make it perfect for pairing with leaner red meats and lighter cuts such as turkey and pork. Malbec pairs fabulously with dry cheeses, like blue cheese, and is also delicious with spicy and sweet flavors like curry and barbecue.

Cabernet Sauvignon

If you're a fan of red wine, you'll probably enjoy a nice Cabernet Sauvignon from time to time. Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark full-bodied red wine typically known for being the most popular red wine there is. The flavors in this wine vary from plum and black cherry to hints of vanilla, black pepper, and tobacco. The tannins are very high in Cabernet Sauvignon which, mixed with its rich flavors, makes this wine perfect for pairing with thick steaks or chops. This is the perfect red wine to pair with juicy red meat and dishes with heavy flavor.

Syrah (Shiraz)

Syrah, also known as Shiraz, is one of the darkest, full-bodied red wines available. Also having similar tastes of blackberries and black cherries, as well as notes of chocolate and spice, make Syrah a versatile wine. You can pair Syrah with roasted, grilled or smoked meats such as veal, beef, and duck. It's even a great match with barbecue and really compliments just about any type of game. If you're in the mood for hamburgers, this is also a tasty wine choice to match.

Family Matters

Before The Grill’s opening back in 1999, the Francovich family traced back generations to their great-grandfather, Eli. Back in 1870, Eli opened the very first restaurant and bar in the Reno area, The Wine House. Not only was it the first restaurant and bar, but it was also known for its multi-story casino, one of the first to receive their gambling and liquor licenses.

In the year 1999, Sam Francovich decided to carry on his great-grandfather’s legacy and open up The Grill at Quail Corners. The Grill strives to provide their customers with the best quality food and service.

Get Fresh Halibut at The Grill

If it were any fresher, it would still be in Alaska

Seafood Restaurants Reno

If you love seafood, there are few things more delicious than fresh fish. Real seafood lovers travel to Alaska, Maine, Florida, or the California coast for a fresh caught meal. For those in Reno who love halibut, a light-bodied white fish which takes on the flavor of its accompaniments, Alaska is the place to get it. In fact, people who really love halibut have been known to travel down to Homer, Alaska and buy their fish directly from the boat drop off point at the Homer Spit.

Fortunately, you don’t need to travel to Alaska to get fresh-caught halibut in Reno. You can get it right here in Reno! The Grill is considered the best restaurant in Reno because we bring in fresh-caught whole halibut from Alaska throughout the season, which runs from May until November. When we get it in, it weighs anywhere between 30 and 60 pounds! Our expert chefs portion it out and offer it pan seared, grilled, or sautéed. We offer a Chef’s special every day, where our expert chefs choose their favorite preparation and serve it to you. Even without the special, that 30 to 60-pound fish doesn’t last long and our amazing halibut goes fast.

This is because halibut fans aren’t limited to people who love seafood. Those who swear they don’t like fish find themselves ordering halibut when they see it on the menu. Unlike salmon, which has a very distinct flavor, halibut is light, flaky, and takes on the flavor of sauces and the other accompaniments on the plate. Try it with lemon, capers, and butter for a light lunch, or get our Pan Seared Halibut for dinner. This filet of halibut, featured on our Reno fine dining menu, is served with salt and pepper over poblano peppers, roasted garlic, and basic risotto. It’s topped with pesto artichoke hearts and garnished with an Aruglio tomato salad.

Halibut is filling, healthy, and absolutely delicious. So you can be health-conscious and feel like you are being a bit decadent too. Fresh halibut is a seasonal, available March through November. That means, if you want halibut so fresh you would swear you are in Alaska, you need to dine with the best restaurant in Reno to get this best-selling dish. Your taste buds will thank you for dining at The Grill. You can thank us for the unforgettable Reno fine dining experience you will have at our restaurant!
